Please join us for the Bemidji Community Food Shelf Annual Meeting Saturday, February 10 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 5232 Irvine Ave NW.
Member churches and volunteers will gather at noon for a light lunch, a meeting, recognitions, and elections. The public portion of the meeting will start at 1:30 with a presentation by Amanda Shongo, Nutritionist, NREMT, addressing the underlying issues contributing to health inequities in our region.

About the Speaker:
Amanda Shongo has worked for the Leech Lake Band within the Health Division since the summer of 2013. She is currently working in the capacity of Nutritionist for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Nutrition Program and as a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician for the Leech Lake Ambulance Service. Her work has included continued efforts in conducting a Community Food Sovereignty and Food Access Assessment of the Leech Lake Reservation, assuring emergency food access through the Cass Lake Area Food Shelf, working on community food access through gardens and food education, and teaching general nutrition in the class and kitchen setting. Amanda is a member of the Lower Mohawk from the Six Nations Reserve in Ontario, Canada and currently resides in the Bemidji area.
